Common Assessment Framework E-Learning Aims

The Common Assessment Framework is a shared assessment and planning framework for use across all children’s services throughout England.

It has been developed to support The Children Act (2004) and is for all children and young people who need to access specialist services in addition to the universal services of education and healthcare.

It aims to:

  • Support the early identification of children’s additional needs
  • Decide how those needs should be met holistically and on a multi-agency basis
  • Promote coordinated service provision
